Patients with prostatic enlargement should be treated cautiously, with anticholinergic drugs. Anticholinergic drugs should also be avoided in patients with pyloric stenosis and paralytic ileus, and should not be given to patients with closed angle glaucoma or to those with narrow angle between the iris and the cornea. Anticholinergic drugs cause pupillary dilatation and in patients with narrow angle glaucoma may cause complete angle closure and blindness (Friedman & Newmann, 1972).
